Every three minutes a child is born with a cleft — often unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile. In some places these children are shunned and rejected. And in too many cases, their parents can't afford to give them the surgeries they need to live a normal life.
$240 is all is takes to provide one surgery with Operation Smile. Operation Smile is a mobilized force of medical professionals and caring hearts who provide safe, effective reconstructive surgery for children born with facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate. This international children's medical charity heals children's smiles, forever changing their lives.
Since 1982, Operation Smile — through the help of dedicated medical volunteers — has provided more than 2 million patient evaluations and over 200,000 free surgeries for children and young adults born with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities.
As one of the most prominent children’s charities in the world and with a presence in over 60 countries, they are able to heal children’s smiles and bring hope for a better future.
With your help, how many lives can we change tomorrow?
I didn't really have the right paper I had in mind for this card so I created my own, and you can, too. It's easy! All you need is a stamp, ink and paper. I used the polka dot stamp from the Rock the Block stamp set to create my own patterned paper. The next time you don't have exactly the right paper you just need to dig through your stash and make your own custom paper.
Get this awesome stamp set as part of this great project pack for just $15 with a $25 order in January.
Today is Chinese New Year and it's the Year of the Dragon. The dragon is associated with power, luck, change and water. Make it a great year!! (I took this photo at the Denver zoo lights a month ago)
One of my customers just e-mailed me this question.
Cherie Lynn, can you please explain how to emboss with heat.
Here ya go.
You'll need these supplies: stamp, heat source like this craft heater, embossing powder, and pigment ink or embossing ink.
Stamp with ink.
Sprinkle embossing powder over the stamped image. Make sure to cover thoroughly.
Tap off excess powder. You can use a small brush to get any stray bits of powder. Return powder back to jar.
Grab your heat tool and apply heat to your image. Hold the heat a few inches away to avoid scorching your paper. Now comes the neat part: watch the powder melt and raise.
Here is my little weekend DIY. I saw a framed ribbon holder at Pottery Barn Kids and thought I Can Do That!!
It was like $38 or so, I don't remember exactly. I got a frame for $10.99 at Ikea, used some leftover fabric from my daughter's window treatment and got some quilt batting material (is that what it's called???) for like $3.99 plus 20% on sale. I bought ribbon, too but ended up using ribbon I aleady had :)
I cut the quilt stuff to fit the front of the insert that came with the frame. I hot glued the quilt stuff to the back board that came as part of the frame. Wrapped my material over the front and hot glued the ribbons. Easy Peasy!!
This will be perfect to get control of the hair bow situation we have going on. AND it will perfectly coordinate with her nursery AND it was under $15. How much fun is that???
it's impossible to hold a basketball and not want to bounce it.
It's impossible (for me at least) to drive the speed limit.
It's impossible to make a window look really, really clean.
It's impossible to move your leg in a clockwise circle and simultaneously draw a "6". It's impossible to not try it now!
It's impossible to get married and not have your photos show up on Facebook.
Speaking of pictures...it IS POSSIBLE to finally get your pictures in a scrapbook. I am a photo medic and I can help you rescue your pictures and precious memories once and for all and get them in an album to treasure for a lifetime. You can also do this and SAVE MONEY! With Studio J online studio scrapbooking you get one free layout for every 9 you purchase in January. Seriously let's get this thing started! Contact me and I can show you how. I have been having fun playing with the stamp set that comes as part of a kit for National Papercrafting Month. These stamps are great and one you'll get a ton of use out of. They are especially cute for Valentine's Day.
I love this paper collection from Close To My Heart called Roxie and I'm thinking I need to order some more for Valentine projects. I used Rhinestone Brads, Heirloom Assortment and a fluffy thing from the Bliss Assortment. I should have called this my "kitchen sink" card since I threw pretty much everything but the kitchen sink on it. It's busy but I like it, kinda like my life...busy but I like it!
This card was a little on the boring side so I headed to my craft room and my sparkles to jazz this up. I should have posted the before picture so you could see the difference a little bling brings!
Stamp is from the January National Papercrafting stamp set special, Rock the Block
See the stamp set here This fantastic product duo is only $15 with a $25 purchase. The stamp set is awesome and one you'll use time and time again. Come back tomorrow for another great project from this fun set. Order online at www.cherielynn.myctmh.com Thanks for visiting www.awescrap.com
