tuesday's technique - shading with markers and sponge daubers

Hello!  This is the May Stamp of the Month, Friendship Bouquet and the Dotty For You paper from Close to my Heart.  I sponged with Sponge Daubers on the leaf to quickly add color (I stamped leaf in Olive and sponged with Sweet Leaf).  The flower was stamped with Desert Sand and I colored using Cocoa, Desert sand and Creme Brulee markers .  It's a little sloppy for my taste but I needed to knock out a few quick cards for Mother's Day.  This Mother had her sweet daughter crawling all over her crafting supplies and had to work very fast to get this done before total mayhem and destruction occurred!! 

To sponge with the daubers just place dauber over your finger, dip into color of your choice and apply to your project.  It's almost like finger painting without the paint.  It's a pretty fun tool to work with.  They are also super handy to use to apply ink to the edges of your paper for a distressed look.

florentine workshop extra extra card

I made this card with supplies left over and the stamp set from the Florentine Workshop on the Go

The star is from the Cricut CTMH Art Philosophy Collection.  The star stamp set goes right with the dimensional element so I just stamped the star with the coordnating star stamp and attached it. Then sponged the edges with ink and called it good.

Here is another card from the My Peeps stamp set.  I am not completely thrilled with the look of it but was pushed for time and just needed to get them done and out in the mail.  I also used the super fun and way cheep LOL (cheap) springs to add fun dimension to my card.  You get 6 Adhesive Springs  for just $2.95  I used the Die cut cards as the card base and the Lucy paper collection.

march stamp of the month

So first off, by the way, how do you like my photo prop.  I can't seem to get my scanner to work with my photos right now so have been using my stairs to do my photos.  I should see about using my new carpeting as a business expense!!

Here is a card using the March Stamp of the Month.  This set is only available this month. 

You can make this card for free at the Stamp & Scrap-A Paper Arts Expo on Saturday March 31st.  The expo is at the Hilton Garden Inn.  I'll be there on Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM.  The show is free and the parking is free.  They'll be lots going on like free make & take projects, new product demonstrations, drawings and give-aways.  This show is to replace the Rubberstamp and Scrapbook Expo that was cancelled for the same weekend.  Show inventory was bought specifically for that cancelled show so there is sure to be good deals.

anniversary card

Remember the 50th anniversary I went to San Diego for?   Here is the card I made, I also double dutied it by teaching it at a card class last month, as well.  Work smarter, not harder I say.  I love that I can use my personal creations and turn around and use in my business.  It's like getting paid to craft!

  

Like I said I used it for a class I taught and it got a little beat up.  I just didn't have a spare second to snap a photo before I sent the good one off.  This was my sample and was really just a "sloppy copy" but you can get the idea here.  I used the Stella paper collection, Card Word Puzzle stamp set (one of my favs, super versatile), Sunset Mini-Medley,and Shimmer Brads. (All Close To My Heart supplies)  If you re-create a flower like this one be sure to stamp several and cut them out and stack them to add dimension.  I also used foam tape in between the layers to stack it up. I folded the paper strip at 1 inch, 1 1/2 inch, 2 1/2 inch, 3 inch, 4 inch, 4 1/2 inch and so on.  It makes for a neat paper pleat.  It's good for scrapbooking too.  If you want one to reach across a whole 12 inch page you'll need to attach two strips together.  Shop online at https://cherielynn.myctmh.com

ok seriously

WOW!  WOW!  All I can say is where did February go?!?  Somewhere between a trip to see my Grandmother, my husband's parents 50th Wedding Anniversary, and our daughter's first birthday February just ran right by!  Okay, so I am back!  I have lots of art to post .  So lets chop chop!!

tuesday's technique - stamped background

I didn't really have the right paper I had in mind for this card so I created my own, and you can, too. It's easy! All you need is a stamp, ink and paper. I used the polka dot stamp from the Rock the Block stamp set to create my own patterned paper. The next time you don't have exactly the right paper you just need to dig through your stash and make your own custom paper.

cute valentine

I have been having fun playing with the stamp set that comes as part of a kit for National Papercrafting Month.  These stamps are great and one you'll get a ton of use out of.  They are especially cute for Valentine's Day.

I love this paper collection from Close To My Heart called Roxie and I'm thinking I need to order some more for Valentine projects.  I used Rhinestone Brads, Heirloom Assortment and a fluffy thing from the Bliss Assortment.  I should have called this my "kitchen sink" card since I threw pretty much everything but the kitchen sink on it.  It's busy but I like it, kinda like my life...busy but I like it!

This card was a little on the boring side so I headed to my craft room and my sparkles to jazz this up.  I should have posted the before picture so you could see the difference a little bling brings!
