You have only until 16 October to be a "stat-you" on the fourth plinth in London's Trafalgar Square.  Volunteers can "occupy" the empty fourth plinth on an hourly basis (the other three support two generals and a king).  You can see all about it here.   The only rule: Don't shock the Queen!

That's title of the Close To My Heart Leadership conference.  I'm up for a weekend of learning, creativity, and friendshipping with fellow consultants.  I haven't seen many of my friends since we were in Europe on the cruise we earned.  We'll be in beautiful Long Beach, CA for sun, surf, shopping and scrapbooking.  Scrapbooking Long Beach style, can't wait!

Don't let the fact that you don't have it in the budget to go on a "real" vacation this summer.  There is plenty of fun to be had right here in Denver.  Today and tomorrow at the Butterfly Pavilion they have a "insectival".  It's a fun celebration of insects, complete with carnival games, craft stations, cockroach races, face painting, bug eating contests and more.

Tonight head downtown to skyline park (16th & Arapahoe) for Spiderman at a movie under the stars in the park.

Summer camp!  Get outdoors and enjoy.  Under a blanket of stars in the backyard or in a campground get involved in camp-like activities.  Fish, hike, horseback ride, eat s'mores.  Check out www.devilsthumbranch.com or www.ymcarockies.org for camping ideas.  

Connect with nature without leaving the city at places like the zoo, the Denver Botanic Gardens or Hudson Gardens.  Your local parks and recreation department is a great source for parks in your area.  Play on playground equiptment, paddleboat, climb trees and feed the ducks- it's all free!

Hop in the car and head for the hills:  Breckenridge, Vail, Aspen, Glenwood Springs, Royal Gorge, Gunnison/Crested Butte and Steamboat Springs are all fun places to get away to.
